some contemporary french cinema

At the Toronto International Film Festival 2004 ---

Last night my wife and I saw Yvan Attal's Ils se marièrent et eurent beaucoup d'enfants, a film about three buddies and their respective marriages and affairs. Johnny Depp makes an interesting appearance. At the end of the show, Attal (who wrote, directed and acted in the film) answered questions from the festival-goers. Attal is married in the film to his beautiful real-life wife Charlotte Gainsbourg. He was asked if the film was in any way 'autobiographical'!

On the way out, we asked for Attal's autograph. I then saw him at the loo (taking a leak, no?), absent his festival handlers. It crossed my mind to tell him there: "L'avenir de l'homme c'est la femme!" (Louis Aragon). Well, if he had read my mind!

Note to self: 1- Get this movie's soundtrack! 2- See the film "Ma femme est une actrice".
